1. Information We Process

OpenEngine processes information needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the beta. Prompts, simulation parameters, and selected document content may be sent to our application backend and AI provider to produce requested output. Do not submit trade secrets, regulated data, export-controlled data, or information you are not authorized to share.

• Account information: User ID, name, email address, and sign-in provider information. OpenEngine does not receive your Google password.
• Eligibility and consent: Selected age band and country, guardian-permission attestation for ages 14–17, policy versions accepted, admission status, and consent time.
• User content: Prompts, conversations you choose to save, supported document uploads, and simulation inputs and outputs.
• Operational data: Usage counters, request and device/browser metadata, security events, and service logs. Prompt telemetry is disabled by default; if explicitly enabled, it records prompt length and a one-way hash rather than raw prompt text. Basic operational data is always collected to run and secure the service. Detailed usage analytics — which controls and features you use, and feedback you choose to submit — are collected only if you enable “Share Detailed Usage Analytics” in Preferences, and never include raw prompt text or model output.
• Waitlist information: If you join the waitlist, we collect your first and last name, email address, and optionally your university and mobile phone number. We use these to confirm your signup, notify you when beta access opens, and gauge demand. If you provide a phone number, we send a one-time confirmation text message through our SMS provider; message and data rates may apply. Waitlist entries are stored separately from beta account data.

2. Why We Process It

We use this information to authenticate and admit users, provide requested AI and simulation features, save content when requested, enforce quotas, investigate abuse and failures, maintain security, communicate about the beta, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Providers and International Processing

The beta uses providers for authentication and cloud storage, frontend and backend hosting, AI inference, and optional notifications. At launch, these categories include Firebase/Google Cloud (authentication, database, storage), Vercel (frontend hosting), Render (backend hosting), OpenAI (AI inference), Resend (email delivery), and Twilio (SMS delivery for waitlist confirmations). Providers may process information in the United States, Canada, or other jurisdictions where they or their subprocessors operate. Information outside your province or country may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or regulators under local law.

4. Cookies and Similar Technology

OpenEngine and its providers use browser storage, cookies, and similar technology where needed for sign-in, security, preferences, service operation, and diagnostics. Limiting these technologies in your browser may prevent sign-in or other beta functions from working.

5. Retention, Choices, and Requests

Saved chats and documents remain until you delete them, request account-data deletion, or they are removed under a published retention schedule. “Clear All History” deletes saved conversations from the current browser and attempts to delete them from the signed-in account; document deletion is a separate action. Providers may retain limited backups or security logs for their standard recovery and abuse-prevention periods. OpenEngine may retain records needed for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or law.

To request access, correction, or deletion of beta account data, or to withdraw consent where applicable, email support@openengine-ai.com from the account email address. Identity verification may be required. Withdrawing consent may require closing the account or disabling features that need the information.

Waitlist entries are kept until the beta waitlist closes or you ask us to remove yours, whichever comes first. To be removed, email the address above from the address you signed up with. Joining the waitlist sends you one confirmation message. Any later waitlist email is limited to beta availability and carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

6. Young Users

This beta is not available to anyone under 14, and OpenEngine does not knowingly collect account information from them. Users aged 14–17 must confirm that a parent or legal guardian has permitted participation. If you believe a user under 14 provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.

7. Security and Changes

OpenEngine uses administrative and technical measures intended to protect beta data, but no online system is completely secure. We may update this notice as the beta changes. If a change materially affects how previously collected information is used, we will provide notice and seek consent where required.

1. Acceptance

These Beta Terms are effective July 30, 2026. By accessing or using OpenEngine, you agree to them and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the beta.

2. Eligibility and Beta Access

You must reside in the United States or Canada and be at least 14. If you are 14–17, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Provide accurate eligibility information and use your own verified account. Access links and codes may be shared, but do not guarantee admission, continued access, or capacity. OpenEngine may pause admissions, revoke a code, change features, or end the beta.

3. Responsibilities and Academic Integrity

OpenEngine assists with learning, calculation, and design. It is not intended to facilitate cheating. Do not use outputs to violate an institution's academic-integrity rules. You are responsible for account activity and for having the rights and permissions needed to submit content. Do not submit another person's sensitive information without authorization.

4. Intellectual Property

Your Content: As between you and OpenEngine, you retain your rights in content you upload. You give OpenEngine a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, copy, process, transmit, and display that content only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, support, and operate the beta. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for limited backup, security, or legal retention.

Our Content: OpenEngine and its licensors own the service and related intellectual property. Outputs may not be unique, and other users may receive similar outputs. Your ability to use an output may depend on its content, applicable law, and third-party rights.

5. Accuracy, Disclaimers, and Liability

The beta and its outputs are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. AI responses and simulations may be incomplete, inaccurate, or based on assumptions that do not match the physical system. Outputs are for education, exploration, and prototyping—not professional engineering approval, certification, or a substitute for independent calculations, testing, code review, and qualified professional judgment. Do not rely on OpenEngine for safety-critical, medical, transportation, structural, industrial-control, or other high-consequence decisions.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OpenEngine disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that applicable consumer law does not allow to be excluded.

6. Suspension and Termination

OpenEngine may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or systems, investigate misuse, comply with law, manage beta capacity, or enforce these Terms. You may stop using the beta and request account deletion at any time.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by New York law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.
